PharmAla And Jupiter Strike Major Psychedelic Medicine Licensing Agreement
PharmAla Biotech has signed a term sheet to license exclusive perpetual U.S. rights to its next-generation MDMA-based therapeutic ALA-002 to Jupiter Neurosciences.
The deal, valued at more than $100 million, includes upfront cash and equity payments, milestone payments, and royalties tied to future development and commercialization.
If you’re unfamiliar, ALA-002 is designed as a next-generation MDMA therapeutic described as having an improved cardiovascular safety profile and reduced abuse potential compared to traditional racemic MDMA formulations.
The compound has also received Novel Chemical Entity recognition from the FDA, which could potentially provide additional regulatory and intellectual property advantages.
For PharmAla, the transaction represents another step in the company’s strategy of monetizing and licensing its growing MDXX intellectual property portfolio rather than functioning solely as a supplier of clinical-grade MDMA. The company already operates manufacturing and development partnerships tied to novel MDXX compounds, including APA-01 and ALA-002.
For Jupiter Neurosciences, the deal significantly expands the company’s central nervous system pipeline into psychedelic therapeutics. Jupiter has primarily focused on neuroinflammation and CNS-related disorders, and management appears to be positioning ALA-002 as part of a broader push into next-generation mental health and neurological treatments.
